Philippines: Operation Care Abroad
I was beyond blessed to be a part of OPERATION CARE ABROAD’s 2020 medical mission in Davao, Philippines. After this, I should never complain about anything in my life ever again. All my problems are first world problems and I am lucky to be where I am. I need to do more medical missions in my life. Not only to give back to others, but to keep me in check with reality. Not America’s reality but humanity’s reality. In my lifetime, I don’t think there was anything more heart-breaking and heart-warming as playing with the kids from House of Hope. How are they battling cancer and smiling at same time? Why am I complaining about anything?
I encourage everyone (even non-medical individuals) to volunteer for a medical mission in a developing nation (real talk, I’ll try to go with you). People need your help more than you think. Sign up through the International Medical Relief.
Words can try to describe it and photos can capture moments of it, but both fall short of how inspiring/amazing/humbling this medical mission was. My hopes are that these photos remind me of humanity’s reality and encourages you at least think of volunteering a medical mission.
